Randy Moore, president of Iowa American Water, has been invited to serve as a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC). Moore’s three-year term begins on September 15, 2014.

NDWAC provides practical and independent advice to U.S. EPA on matters and policies related to drinking water, including regulations and guidance required by the Safe Drinking Water Act. The council may also propose actions to encourage cooperation and communication on drinking water quality among the EPA and other governmental agencies, interested groups, the public and technical associations and organizations.

“Becoming a member of the NDWAC represents an exciting opportunity for me because this involvement would allow me to affect change and promote stability in the water industry at a national level,” said Moore. “My 35 years of experience in the water industry have prepared me well to serve in this capacity, and I look forward to working collaboratively with fellow members to continue to support and promote our industry and the continued safety and reliability of our nation’s drinking water supplies as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act.”

For the past three-and-a-half decades, Moore has used his diverse water utility experience to serve in a variety of leadership roles at American Water. In 2005, Mr. Moore briefly left American Water to serve as vice president of operations for Earth Tech, where he oversaw a team of approximately 150 employees who delivered water and waste water service in the United States and Canada. In 2009, he joined Iowa American Water as president.

Iowa American Water, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water services to approximately 200,000 people. Founded in 1886, American Water is the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company.
