Dayton Power & Light Awards Victoria Theatre Association a Rebate for Energy Efficiency Upgrades
Dayton Power & Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) awarded Victoria Theatre Association with an energy efficiency rebate of $67,650 for extensive lighting upgrades in The Arts Garage.
Over the summer Victoria Theatre Association replaced 445 lighting fixtures with energy efficient LED fixtures that will save 519,387 kilowatt hours of energy and about $41,000 annually. More than 230 motion sensors were also installed to turn off unnecessary lighting based on occupancy. Victoria Theatre Association is already seeing savings on their electric bills.
Separately, The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation (DP&L Foundation) announces it has become Victoria Theatre Association’s official energy sponsor. The Victoria Theatre Association recognizes the value of maintaining its landmark performing arts facilities, including Victoria Theatre, the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, The Loft Theatre and The Arts Garage with up-to-date energy efficient systems.
To maximize all opportunities for energy efficiency, the Victoria Theatre Association worked closely with The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L) to secure rebates for building projects with potential energy savings.
On Tuesday, September 23, DP&L President and CEO Derek A. Porter will present Victoria Theatre Association officials with an energy efficiency rebate of $67,650 for an extensive lighting upgrade in the Arts Garage.
“DP&L’s mission is to keep the lights on for our residents, and to ensure that the cultural life of our community shines brightly for many years,” Porter said. “Like many of our employees who are involved in theater, music or arts programs in their communities, I am passionate about organizations like the Victoria Theatre Association because of the significant value they bring to our lives.”
“We welcome DP&L Foundation as our official energy sponsor,” says President and CEO of Victoria Theatre Association and The Arts Center Foundation, Ken Neufeld. “The DP&L rebate program has meant huge savings for us and as a downtown business that consumes a lot of energy, anything we can do to be more efficient and keep expenses down is important. All proceeds from the garage operations help offset the cost of running the Victoria Theatre, the Benjamin and Marion Schuster Performing Arts Center, and the Metropolitan Arts Center. This revenue helps us offer the best possible rates on rent and services that we provide to our resident companies like the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance and the Human Race Theatre Company and our many other arts partners.”
During the morning rush, 7:30 – 10:30 a.m., DP&L representatives will also be distributing energy efficient compact florescent light bulbs to parking garage patrons to try out in their own homes and an energy bar to power them through their day. We encourage all to stop by and learn about DP&L energy efficiency programs.
