GATX Corporation (NYSE:GMT) today announced that it will host, in partnership with U.S. Senators John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), along with BNSF Railway, a railcar safety training event in Fargo, North Dakota on October 6th through October 8th. GATX will provide training to emergency responders on the proper handling of railcars using its TankTrainer and Classroom Car.

GATX’s TankTrainer is a 33,500-gallon tank car outfitted with a variety of fittings, coatings and configurations that provides trainees with the opportunity to access both the interior and exterior of a railcar for a hands-on experience. The Classroom Car is a training room for instruction provided by experienced GATX personnel.

“We are pleased to bring the GATX TankTrainer to Fargo for this important training session,” said Brian Kenney, chairman, president and chief executive officer of GATX Corporation. “This is part of our ongoing efforts to educate first responders, customers and railroads on the important features of tank cars.”

The TankTrainer has been in operation for more than 20 years, providing updated demonstrations and hands-on training. GATX has hosted hundreds of training events for thousands of employees of shippers as well as local and regional first responders. GATX is committed to safety and training, and the mobile TankTrainer program is a way to provide convenient training to industry professionals.
