American Water Resources, a partner of Metro Water Services (MWS) in providing Service Line Protection to MWS customers, announced that in just six months since the program launched, more than 5,000 homeowners across Davidson County, as well as portions of Rutherford and Williamson Counties in Tennessee, have signed up for the Water and Sewer Service Line Protection Programs.

“We are proud of the service we are offering to Nashville homeowners,” said American Water Resources President Malcolm Conner. “Through our elective Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs, homeowners have the ability to help safeguard themselves from the financial demands and stress that occurs when they experience a water or sewer line problem.”

Nashville homeowner Charles G. who is enrolled in the program said, “I had a leak in my water pipe from my home to the water meter, which is my responsibility. American Water Resources responded and took care of the matter in a timely, effective and efficient manner. I was pleased with the contractors’ work and professionalism. If I have to use this service again, I know the job will be done right.”

To help property owners better manage these risks and the high costs of service line repairs, Nashville Metro Water Services issued a Request for Proposal from qualified providers for service line protection programs in 2013. American Water Resources was awarded a contract to administer the service line protection programs for the eligible properties in the Nashville area in April 2014.

Designed to protect homeowners from unexpected, costly service line repairs that are caused by normal wear and tear, tree roots and aging service lines, the Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs provide a solution for repairs that are neither the responsibility of the city’s water department nor covered by typical homeowners’ insurance. At no cost to the city and minimal cost to the customer, American Water Resources fully manages the service line protection program – from establishing a local contractor network and providing customer service, to educating homeowners about their responsibility to maintain their water and sewer lines.

Metro Water Services’ customers may choose to participate in the Water and Sewer Line Protection Program for a combined price of $11.49 per month. Customers may also elect to enroll in the Water Line Protection Program for $3.99 per month or the Sewer Line Protection Program for $7.99 per month. Those who enroll in the program will receive 24-hour customer service support, leading to greater peace of mind when service line repair needs might occur. There are no claim forms to submit and there are no deductibles for the homeowner.

To celebrate the success of the program and give back to the local community, American Water Resources announced a unique opportunity for Metro Water Services customers who enroll in the Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs from October 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. For every new enrollment received, American Water Resources will make a $1 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. American Water Resources and Metro Water Services are proud supporters of Second Harvest, and the greater Nashville community. More information about the Protection Programs will be arriving in homeowners’ mail soon and is also available online at www.AWRUSA.com/Nashville or by calling 1-888-758-8935.
