In a move to accelerate its recent expansion into the retail and finance vertical markets, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE:IM) has signed a deal with Powa Technologies to distribute the PowaPOS T-series POS solution in the North American marketplace. With this move, the global technology leader further cements its commitment to building out its growing Point-of-Sale business, selecting PowaPOS as the best-in-class tablet-POS solution based on its unique, fully integrated design, advanced features and EMV-readiness.

“Ingram Micro has long been a global leader in providing advanced technology services and solutions, and with this partnership creates an offering ideal for the competitive retail and finance industries in North America, but with the ability to rapidly expand to other international markets to complement both companies’ worldwide presence,” said Jeff Dumbrell, CEO of PowaPOS, a division of Powa Technologies.

“Market demand for a scalable, flexible tablet-based payment solution continues to grow, and with Ingram’s global reach, thousands of its channel partners can now call on the company to meet this market need,” continued Dumbrell.

In September, Ingram Micro announced its intentions to expand its POS offerings, as well as broaden its vertical market strategy to include retail and finance markets. A part of the Ingram Micro Specialty Solutions Division, the Data Capture/POS business unit empowers channel partners to tap into high-margin sales and service opportunities around select vertical markets by offering best-in-class products, solutions, business support resources, geographical reach, professional services and inventory management.

“The innovative PowaPOS platform is the ideal component to help us deliver a complete POS and payments solution to our channel partners, one that is also EMV-ready to meet the need for retailers and others to upgrade their store-front hardware over the next year,” said Jeff Yelton, vice president and general manager, Ingram North America Data capture/POS Division. “The PowaPOS solution is a key piece in ensuring our partners continue to have a competitive advantage with the businesses they serve.”

Earlier this year, Powa Technologies unveiled the PowaPOS T-Series, a tablet-based solution that integrates industry-leading components into one simplified, attractive and space-saving POS stand. North American and global response has been strong for PowaPOS’ unique integration of features, including a tilting/swiveling tablet mount, high-speed printer, 2D barcode scanner, encrypting magnetic stripe reader, EMV-compliant smartcard reader, secure PIN-entry keypad, and cash drawer.

Additionally, the PowaPOS SDK combines an industry-leading set of features that work seamlessly with existing tablet applications across iOS, Android and Windows operating systems with a single API. Working together, the PowaPOS SDK and online Developer Portal simplify app integration with PowaPOS point-of-sale hardware and services, including PowaTag, the company’s fast-growing mobile commerce solution that now has more than 800 brand partners around the world.
