MetLife Names Michael A. Zarcone Executive Vice President
MetLife, Inc. (NYSE:MET) announced today that Michael A. Zarcone has been named executive vice president, head of Corporate Affairs. In addition to this role, Zarcone is chief of staff to the CEO of MetLife, Inc., and chair of the MetLife Foundation.
As the head of Corporate Affairs, Zarcone oversees Global Communications, Global Government Relations, and Corporate Contributions and Community Relations. He manages MetLife’s engagement with internal and external audiences in the nearly 50 countries where the company does business. Global Communications drives the global communications strategy and promotes and protects the company’s corporate reputation. Global Government Relations advances MetLife’s interests before U.S. and international governments, regulatory agencies, and policy-making bodies.
MetLife Foundation was created in 1976 to continue MetLife’s long tradition of corporate contributions and community involvement. It is the country’s largest life insurance Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to advancing financial inclusion, committing $200 million over the next five years to help build a secure future for individuals and communities around the world.
Zarcone is active in several insurance industry and business groups. He is currently chairman of the board of the Life Insurance Council of New York and trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission.
Zarcone joined MetLife in 1991 as a government relations counsel covering New York State. He was appointed assistant vice president in 1994, vice president in 1995, and secretary to the board in 1998. Zarcone was named head of state government relations in 1999, head of Global Government Relations and Public Policy in 2002, and named a senior vice president in 2004.
Zarcone holds a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University of America School of Law. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Siena College, where he served as a member of the Associate Board of Trustees. Zarcone is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar and the Bar of the District of Columbia.
Zarcone lives with his family in Loudonville, NY.
