Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) , is a leading materials supplier to the fast growing packaging industry. With new business investments and innovative new technologies and capabilities like Pack Studios, the business continues to drive growth across the globe.

“In Packaging and Specialty Plastics, we have invested in specialized end-markets like food packaging and hygiene while continuing to leverage Dow’s global footprint to enable strong growth,” stated Diego Donoso, business president of Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. “Our strategic investments in bringing new technologies to our customers continue to drive sales and higher demand in these attractive markets in all regions, including double-digit gains in North and Latin America.”

Bringing the Pack Studios Experience to Pack Expo 2014

Pack Studios accelerates the packaging development process by providing a collaborative environment to enable customers, brand owners and other members of the value chain to experiment with new products, driving innovation and sales. The Pack Studios “experience” was taken virtually to this year’s premiere packaging tradeshow, Pack Expo 2014, to showcase to customers exactly how Dow can collaborate, innovate and accelerate solutions for better packaging.

As a result, Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics continues to develop and deliver new products, including:

  • PacXpertTM Packaging Technology enables the transition from larger traditional rigid containers to flexible packaging that is shelf-stable and easy to handle.
  • RETAINTM Polymer Modifiers, a portfolio of compatibilizers that make it easier to recycle post-industrial barrier films without compromising performance or aesthetics.
  • OPULUXTM Optical Finishes, a portfolio of matte finishes that deliver a distinctive and luxurious look to packages.
  • SEALUTIONTM 220 Peel Polymer is a polyolefin-based, single pellet polymer that can seal to both polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) to deliver a broad, easy-to-peel seal window with low, consistent peel force.
