Violin Memory(R), Inc., (NYSE:VMEM) , a leading provider of award-winning all-flash storage arrays and appliances delivering application solutions for the enterprise, today announced the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA AMCOS) has received the Storage Visions Visionary End User Award for High Performance Storage Applications, for its implementation of a Violin 6200 All Flash Array solution. Violin’s 6200 All Flash Array solution enabled APRA AMCOS to accelerate its processing speed, and manage parallel, data-intensive workloads to process and track music usage royalties. Violin is proud to have assisted APRA AMCOS in achieving this recognition. The Violin ConcertoTM 7000 All-Flash Array was separately recognized as a Visionary Products Award finalist.

APRA AMCOS collects and distributes songwriting royalties to its 87,000 songwriter, composer and music publishing members and more than 3,000,000 copyright owners worldwide. Using the Violin 6200 All Flash Array, APRA AMCOS accelerated the tracking and processing of royalty requests, and was able to meet royalty payment SLAs by reducing application I/O wait times eliminating delays in royalty processing for APRA’s SAP ASE 15.7 database. Violin’s 6200 All Flash Array improved overall application performance by up to 65 percent. APRA AMCOS has also seen major improvements in backup times of up to 73 percent and end of day (EOD) processing times by 71 percent. These significant changes have allowed APRA AMCOS to be competitive and scale their business for the future.

“Ensuring our three million plus members and copyright owners are paid the royalties they are entitled to receive helps keep the Australian music industry strong,” said Gus Jansen, Chief Technology Advisor at APRA AMCOS. “Upgrading to the Violin 6212 All Flash Array has reduced the time involved in tracking and processing royalty requests, so copyright owners will continue to receive payments on time despite burgeoning data volumes.”

“We are pleased to start 2015 with recognition from the Storage Visions Conference for APRA AMCOS as a Visionary End User,” said Eric Herzog, CMO and SVP Alliances at Violin Memory. “Customers like APRA AMCOS are realizing the value of Violin all flash array solutions and the impact Violin all-flash arrays have not only on storage performance, but also on delivering substantial application and business benefits.”

The Storage Visions conference recognizes and educates attendees on the latest trends in storage as well as how leading companies are implementing storage advances to improve their businesses. The Storage Vision awards recognize companies advancing the state of the art in storage technologies utilized in consumer electronics, the media and entertainment industries, visionary products for the digital content value chain and digital storage end users.

APRA AMCOS, representing the Australasian Performing Right Association and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society, is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes songwriting royalties to its 87,000 songwriter, composer and music publisher members, and around 3,000,000 copyright owners worldwide.
