Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE:AMRC) , a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, announced today that Mark Wilhelm has been named Ameresco’s Corporate Director of Sustainability and Climate Neutrality Initiatives. As a subject-matter expert on current industry practices, he will function as Ameresco’s sustainability liaison cross-company, champion best practices for customers, and leverage expert knowledge from within Ameresco and a network of experts to develop and implement projects and strategies.

“We are very pleased to have someone with Mark’s depth of knowledge and commitment, and who is an environmental steward to fill the new role at Ameresco,” said George P. Sakellaris, President and CEO, Ameresco. “As the ‘trusted sustainability partner‘ for customers, Ameresco is focused on efficiency and renewable measures that impact long-term sustainability, and having Mark in this role reinforces not only the commitment we have to our own sustainability initiatives but also better positions us to provide even greater long-term value for our customers.”

Throughout his career Mr. Wilhelm has advocated for customers through a wide variety of initiatives and has been instrumental in assisting them to achieve their goals. In 2013, he joined Ameresco as the Director, Climate Neutrality Initiatives. Mr. Wilhelm is leading Ameresco’s team, which includes Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), to define and implement sustainability strategies that will achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions and climate neutrality for ASU.

“I am excited to take on this role for Ameresco,” Wilhelm said. “In my career, I have worked with some of the most innovative sustainability and energy professionals in the world. Working with Ameresco, ASU, RMI, and NREL on the Climate Neutrality Alliance has been an amazing experience. We have learned how to drive large, dynamic organizations like ASU to climate neutrality with a positive net present value. We will leverage this knowledge to position Ameresco as the premier strategy and implementation partner for organizations who are truly serious about achieving their climate neutrality goals.”

Mr. Wilhelm has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including over 20 years of focus on energy-efficient, sustainable building design and operations.
