Global colocation solutions provider CyrusOne (NASDAQ:CONE) announced today that 20 CyrusOne facilities across the six states of Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Texas are certified as ISO 27001 compliant from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These CyrusOne data center locations are now certified under the new, more rigorous ISO 27001:2013 standards.

The ISO developed the stricter ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards in connection with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). These new standards require a data center provider to demonstrate its ability to consistently and effectively manage to the highest standards of security for data center colocation services, including physical controls, environmental safeguards, and security of supporting IT services and telecommunication connectivity. Retaining its ISO 27001 certification under these more stringent 2013 standards recognizes that CyrusOne maintains the requisite levels of security and availability to meet its contractual obligations to its customers.

“Demonstrating the continuing ability to keep the servers and data housed within our facilities secure is tablestakes for attracting and retaining the Fortune 1000 enterprises for which we are known,” said Scott Brueggeman, chief marketing officer, CyrusOne. “Retaining our ISO 27001 certification further reinforces our goal to be the preeminent data center provider, with the transparency and accountability that customers can trust.”

Conducted by the accredited certification body, A-lign Security and Compliance Services LLC, as of Dec. 5, 2014, the 20 facilities registered are Phoenix, Ariz. (2); Chicago, Ill.; South Bend, Ind. (2); Florence, Ky.; Cincinnati, Ohio (6); and in Texas: Dallas (2); Houston (3); Austin (2); and San Antonio.
