Box today announced a partnership with TechSoup Global, a San-Francisco based nonprofit that provides technology and other resources to the social sector, enabling greater access to Box’s cloud content collaboration platform for nonprofits worldwide. The partnership gives eligible nonprofits access to donated Box licenses on TechSoup.org through Box.org, empowering these organizations to achieve their missions and deliver lasting social impact through better use of technology.

“We believe that organizations committed to doing good and serving others should have access to innovative technologies that will help them be more connected, productive, and effective,” said Karen Appleton, senior vice president of Industry Alliances at Box and founder of Box.org. “With a long-standing track record of helping technology providers enable nonprofits to achieve more with their limited budgets, TechSoup Global was a clear choice for a partnership to help nonprofit organizations be more productive and collaborative.”

“As organizations of all sizes, all around the world look to better share content and collaborate in a secure manner, our partnership with Box is allowing us to fill a very specific need for our community,” said Gayle Samuelson Carpentier, Chief Business Development Officer, TechSoup Global. “Through partnerships with cloud technology providers like Box, we’re able to deliver on our promise to provide technology information and resources for nonprofits and to help mission-driven organizations change the world faster.”

The vast majority of nonprofits operate with small staff; in fact, of the 1.6 million nonprofits registered in the U.S., 76 percent have an average of six employees or less1. Additionally, 87 percent of nonprofits operate without a dedicated IT department – they’re all too often held back by limited IT resources, understaffed teams, and low budgets. Box launched its Box.org initiative to ensure that access to technology was not a hurdle for organizations committed to helping others.

Since launching Box.org in May 2014, Box has seen significant demand for better ways to share and collaborate in the nonprofit world. Nonprofits of all sizes are utilizing Box to further their work, from local, volunteer-only organizations like GROWYourFuture.org, mentoring youth in the San Francisco Bay area, to large global organizations like Oxfam International, implementing development programs and sharing Box across over 90 countries. More than 1,500 innovative nonprofits like the United Nations Foundation, Team Rubicon, Habitat for Humanity Australia, Teach For America and Kiva are using Box to collaborate internally and externally, manage and share mission-critical information, communicate with donors, and access documents from anywhere in the world on any device.
