Newark’s Military Park to Host National Park Trust’s U.S. Kick Off for ‘2015 Kids to Parks Day’

  • National Park Trust presents Dan Biederman and Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, with the American Park Experience Award in recognition of their leadership in the rebirth and revitalization of Military Park and other notable urban parks.

Ceremony followed by children’s activity stations including yoga, line dancing, and learning/activity stations hosted by Military Park Partnership, National Park Service, Newark Yoga Movement, Greater Newark Conservancy, Essex County Environmental Center, City of Newark Department of Recreation. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and New Jersey Historical Society.


  • 200 Newark charter school children to participate in ‘national day of play’ highlighting importance of city parks in the lives of urban youth

This event will celebrate the importance of urban parks in children’s lives across America. Kids to Parks Day events will take place in cities and towns across America on Saturday, May 16, 2015 (


Friday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (welcome remarks 10 to 10:15 a.m. – students to rotate through activity and learning stations until 1 p.m.).
