Annaly Capital Management, Inc. Expands Commercial Real Estate Investment Team

Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NYSE:NLY) (Annaly) today announced additions to its commercial real estate investment team. “We are excited to welcome such a seasoned team of commercial real estate investors with the addition of Jeff and his group,” commented Wellington Denahan, Annaly’s Chief Executive Officer.

“Our commercial real estate group continues to expand its reach,” said Kevin Keyes, Annaly’s President. “The addition of Jeff and his team broadens our institutional origination platform and strengthens our strategy to grow this aspect of our business.”

Commercial Real Estate Origination Team

Jeffrey J. Thompson will be joining Annaly from GE Capital Real Estate as part of Annaly’s commercial real estate origination team. Along with current Annaly executives Michael Quinn and Robert Restrick, Mr. Thompson will serve as a Co-Head of Annaly’s commercial real estate platform. Mr. Thompson has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, including most recently serving as Managing Director – Strategic Capital Group at GE Capital Real Estate where he was the leader of GE Capital Real Estate’s commercial real estate direct lending balance sheet program with a focus on institutional sponsors, operating partners and brokers across the U.S. Mr. Thompson has a B.A. from the University of Toronto.

Joining Annaly with Mr. Thompson are the following members of Mr. Thompson’s team from GE Capital Real Estate:

  • Patrick T. Maroney will be joining Annaly as a Managing Director in Annaly’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Maroney was previously Senior Director at GE Capital Real Estate where he focused on originating, credit risk assessment, underwriting, structuring, negotiating and closing loans across GE Capital Real Estate’s structured and CMBS lending platforms. Mr. Maroney has 15 years’ experience with GE Capital Real Estate’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Maroney has a B.A. from Fordham University.
  • Daniel J. Jagoe will be joining Annaly as a Managing Director in Annaly’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Jagoe was previously Senior Asset Manager at GE Capital Real Estate where he managed GE Capital Real Estate’s commercial real estate loan, joint venture and REO portfolio. Mr. Jagoe has 24 years of experience with GE Capital Real Estate’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Jagoe has a B.S. from Bryant College.
  • Neetika Gandhi will be joining Annaly as a Director in Annaly’s commercial real estate group. Ms. Gandhi was previously Vice President – Underwriting/Risk Management at GE Capital Real Estate since 2011. From 2007 through 2011, Ms. Gandhi was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs’ Real Estate Investment Banking Division. From 1999 through 2007 Ms. Gandhi served in a variety of capacities at GE Capital Real Estate. Ms. Gandhi has a B.S. from Boston College, Wallace E. Carroll School of Management, and a M.B.A. from New York University.
  • Clive A. Brown Jr. will be joining Annaly as a Director in Annaly’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Brown was previously an Underwriting Leader at GE Capital Real Estate where he led execution efforts on large commercial portfolio transactions across all product types. Mr. Brown has 16 years’ experience with GE Capital Real Estate’s commercial real estate group. Mr. Brown has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
